Collaborating for vitality and choice in the second half of life
The Harlowe name has been synonymous with auctions in Central Virginia since 1968. In 1997, Bill Harlowe combined his considerable experience with the knowledge, energy and integrity of Pat Powell to form Harlowe-Powell
Auction Ltd. The firm has grown to be a major regional auction house, conducting a wide variety of auctions from its 15,000 sq. ft. building in Charlottesville. Norman Dill became a partner in Harlowe-Powell Auction when he bought Bill Harlowe’s share of the company in 2005.
Located off Rt. 29, we are easily accessible from Washington, D.C. and Richmond, Virginia. We celebrate our regional heritage and often offer University of Virginia, Jeffersonian, and other historic collectibles and ephemera. Our auctions appeal not only to Virginians but buyers and consignors located all over the world. We have accepted consignments from Florida, California, New York, and Canada just to name a few; buyers routinely contact us from Europe and Asia.
We have several types of auctions at Harlowe-Powell:
Catalog auctions occur every other month. Buyers all over the world participate using online and phone bidding. These auctions feature fine art, antiques, silver, jewelry, and other exceptional decorative arts artifacts.
We hold an online Modern auction twice a year in April and October. We are continuously accepting modern consignments, especially fine art, ceramics, glass, and furniture. Contact Sarah Reeder at sarahreeder@harlowepowell.com for more information about our modern sales.
We have a number of online specialty auctions throughout the year, featuring a diverse array of objects including coins, toys, weaponry, and rare books and documents. We are continuously accepting rare book and document consignments.
Every other Friday we have an auction in our smaller auction gallery. These sales are designed for efficient turnaround with a simple listing of items and no assigned estimates. The range of objects in these sales is broad--furniture, artwork, rugs, silver, coins, ceramics, glassware, and many other items.
To contact us please call (434) 293-2904 or write information@harlowepowell.com We are open Monday through Friday from 9-5.
